A CAFE serving sushi and other Japanese snacks could be opening in Kendal if South Lakeland District Council planners look favourably on the idea.

A change of use planning application is in the process of being lodged with the authority to convert empty premises at 37 Stramongate.

Applicant Ernesto Perez Munoz says in details already received by the council that the cafe will be mainly serving cold food. There will also be some hot dishes to make the menu more appealing.

The applicant says cooking methods to be used produce no odours and fumes and very little noise and no commercial extraction system is required.

The business, which will be open from 11am to 9pm Monday to Sunday, will offer a delivery service, mainly in the evenings.

A parking space will be allocated for a delivery vehicle at the rear of the premises with access on to Blackhall Road.
