I AM definitely in favour of a northern relief road from Plumgarths to the A6 for the huge benefit it would bring not only for the residents of Windermere road, Sandes Avenue, Longpool and the southern section of Shap Road but also for the benefit and relief of the hundreds of lorry and car drivers who through no fault of their own are trying to get to Shap road to work, make deliveries and of course do to do their shopping.
The addition of Sainsburys will only add to the problem. Obviously Laura Fiske (Podium, August 3, 'Relief road would not improve town comngesiton') has not been to Sandes Avenue between 8.30am and 6pm on any day of the week.
If she had, she would be aware of the constant congestion and traffic jams, not only in Sandes Avenue but for several hundreds of yards up Windermere Road, Longpool and Shap Road, most of which could be avoided with a northern relief road.
