OUTLINE plans for 27 new homes at the Furness village of Swarthmoor have been lodged with South Lakeland District Council.
The dwellings - including nine social rented houses - would be built on 1.3 hectares of arable land off Pennington Lane, north of a small cluster of buildings at Cross-a-Moor.
The field is part of a large parcel of land allocated for up to 161 homes in the South Lakeland local plan.
Cllr Andrew Butcher, who represents Mid Furness on SLDC, has objected to the plans by applicant Mr Towers, voicing traffic concerns over the safety of children attending the nearby Pennington CE School and nursery.
A neighbour has also objected, saying water pressure is already a problem locally, and access onto the A590 road is "extremely busy" in the mornings.
