A YOUNG Furness man is seeking planning consent to build a new home, so he can stay in his local community.
Gary Grieve has lodged outline plans for a detached, slate-roofed dwelling on family-owned land at Head Crag, Kirkby-in-Furness with South Lakeland District Council.
According to planning documents, Mr Grieve is "acutely aware of the haemorrhaging of local young folk from the community". A parish housing needs survey in 2011 identified 13 homes were required, of which 12 were for young adults living with parents.
