THE farming community has been urged to assess its security measures after the theft of red diesel from a farm in the Kendal area.

Two full tanks of red diesel were taken in the late hours of Friday (August 18).

The offenders have entered an agricultural property with two empty jerry cans and stolen the fuel.

An email sent by Kendal PCSO Kyle Bateson said: "On receipt of this email we urge all of the farming community to assess their current state of security in regards to all agricultural plant and fuel. Please ensure that your fuel and plant are stored in a secure manner which will offer no opportunity to thieves.

"If you require any advice on crime prevention, please do not hesitate to contact myself or the Kendal Police Community Team."
