A SOUTH Cumbria man has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register after admitting possessing hundreds of indecent images of children.
Christopher George Helman, 42, faced four charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (Friday).
Helman admitted three counts of making indecent images of children between November 24, 2014, and January 19 this year. Some of the prohibited pictures - a total of 605 - are classed in category A, the most serious.
Helman also pleaded guilty to possession of a total of 1,270 indecent images - including category A, B and C pictures - between the same period of time.
Judge Barbara Forrester adjourned the case until September 29, when Helman, of Crook, will be sentenced.
He was granted bail until that date - the one condition being that he most not have unsupervised contact with any child aged under 16.
Helman was told by Judge Forrester: "You are also now subject to the notification requirements - that is the Sex Offenders' Register."
