CROSTHWAITE'S annual village show was filled with high quality competition entries over the weekend.

The Argles Memorial Hall welcomed an increased attendance, as people turned out to view the large variety of craft and horticultural entries on show.

There were competition classes for flowers, pot plants, fruit, vegetables, baking, preserves, painting, photography and crafts, all of which displayed the many talents in the area.

Some classes invited entries from children only, and their endeavours received tremendous support from Crosthwaite School.

Entries from children included crafts using recycled materials, Lego, baking and a wonderful set of potential designs for the cover of next year’s Show Schedule.

Cups were presented by Eric Bowman, one of the founders of the Show some 27 years ago.

Crosthwaite School provided a backdrop of artwork as a preview of some of their display at the Westmorland Show in the following week.

The Village Playgroup also contributed greatly with a display of art and a wide range of entries in the design of an animal using vegetables.

Thanks are due to the local businesses that contributed through donations to the event’s very successful raffle including the Punch Bowl, Crosthwaite, Hare and Hounds, Levens, Lyth Valley Hotel, Gilpin Bridge Inn, Black Labrador, Underbarrow, and the Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge.
