LARGE numbers of protestors have gathered at New Road car park in Kendal to voice their anger over the council's plans to close the space.
Banners reading 'Stop, land grab!' and 'Give us back our car park' are being waved, and cars are beeping their horns in support as they drive past.
A chant of 'We want it back, it's our carpark' has also sparted.
The protestors will be leaving the car park and marching on the town hall, where they will be collecting signatures.
They hope this will persuade the council to have a full, open enquiry into the decision.
Protestor Mike Denney said: "We are here because we are angry, very angry."
Petra Townsend added: "We have got to make a stand for the people of Kendal and that is what we are doing."
