ANDREW Lloyd Webber and Allan Ayckbourn's light-hearted, fun musical By Jeeves is the highlight of the Old Laundry Theatre's 25th Anniversary season. MUSICIAN and vocalist Craig Duggan performs Songs of Cumbria, in a concert to be held at Castle Street Community Centre, Kendal, on Saturday (October 7), at 7.30pm. The Yorkshireman has lived in Cumbria for 40 years and hopes that singing these traditional and contemporary songs help to raise awareness to its people, places and culture, while at the same time bringing enjoyment and entertaining his audiences. Tickets £10 A SPECIAL event providing the opportunity to view the Red Deer Rut, one of nature’s greatest and natural spectacles. The event begins with an RSPB escorted private cruise from Glenridding Pier to Howtown and then transfer by a short walk to the Deer Reserve in the remote Martindale Valley.

Here, from around the end of September to the middle of November, the stags lock antlers, roar and bellow as they fight for a mate. The cruise departs the pier at 10.30am and returns at 3.30pm, from today (Thursday) to Monday (October 6-9). Light refreshments are available on board the Ullswater Steamer.
