AN announcement by Prime Minister Theresa May at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester today that the Government is to adopt an opt-out organ donation system has been welcomed by South Lakes MP Tim Farron.
Mr Farron described it as a ‘big win’ for the 6,000 people on the organ donor waiting list.
“Nearly 500 people dying in England last year waiting for an organ donor, which is why I submitted an Early Day Motion calling for an opt-out organ donation system.
“We’ve been pushing for this change for years and I now look forward to seeing these plans come to Parliament – it looks like we’ve finally won our campaign.”
