A NEW house planned for Kirkby Lonsdale would be "oppressive and overbearing" to neighbours, and would harm the town's conservation area, planners decided.
The detached two-bedroom dwelling - proposed for a garden plot at Tram Lane by Andrew Nicholson - met with refusal from South Lakeland District Council.
The plan attracted several objections from neighbours on grounds such as loss of privacy and overshadowing. Kirkby Lonsdale Town Council also recommended refusal .
