A CUMBRIAN photographer has received three honourable mentions in the annual International Photography Awards.

Keswick photographer,Tim Fisher, 53, submitted only three sets of images into the awards, in four different categories, opting to keep it people-based and not include any landscape work.

As usual, all images entered featured Tim's adopted county, Cumbria.

Tim stood in the drizzle for two days during the four day Appleby Horse Fair and encouraged all who came his way to pose for him in the mud.

He later commented: “The truth is that the travelling community are very active on social media and simply love having their children photographed.

"However, subsequently tracking these families down to gain permissions from adults proved somewhat complex.

"Multiple Facebook, Messaging and Instagram accounts, under family and personal and business names filled more than six pages of my note book with multiple scrawled arrows linking who was photographed with whom and which child belonged to which family.

The other Honourable Mention images were again from a successful set taken at the 131st Ambleside Sports Day this summer.

This year's IPA’s received over 12,000 entries from 115 countries, and are a bedrock of the photography awards community.
