FIVE Kendal Air cadets and one staff member kick started the 2018 road marching season at Sandbach in Cheshire.

They successfully completed the Royal Air Force Walking and Road Marching Association (RAF WARMA) Winter March.

The squadron formed part of a 32-strong team from Cumbria and Lancashire with all of the team finishing the 20km/12mile route. This was the first event in the 2017/2018 road marching calendar and for many of the cadets it was their first experience of road marching.

The ultimate goal for the cadets is to go to Nijmegen, Holland, in the summer to take part in the 102nd International Four Days Marches where they will cover 25 miles a day for four days. Until then, the cadets will have to take part in many training walks and organised qualification marches.

RAF WARMA was formed on the April 1 1980 and its aim is to promote the sport of walking - of all types - within the Royal Air Force and its sister services.
