A FAMILIAR face has been welcomed back to Eden District Council's building control team.

Mike Craig, 52, of Long Marton is the council's new building control officer, having worked for Eden earlier in his career, when he was educated and trained as a building surveyor.

Mike said: "I started my building control career with Eden District Council over 20 years ago. I spent seven years here before trying something new and moving house and job to work for Carlisle City Council.

"I have been made to feel really welcome since returning to work at Eden and it has been nice to see some familiar faces. The standard of construction in the area is really good, the local contractors are well established and it is nice to work with the same companies regularly."

Alaistair Richmond, Eden’s building control manager said he was "really pleased to welcome Mike back". Every year the council receives and deals with around 700 applications for building regulations, from new windows to housing sites with hundreds of new homes.
