ROADS in the South Lakes remain closed as a result of yesterday's flooding.

Sedbergh Road at Kendal is still under a lot of water near the Castle Green Hotel.

The A6 is also still blocked in numerous places, including at Levens due to flooding on the A590.

Traffic is moving slowly on the A6 at Kendal, and also at Sandes Avenue.

Yesterday, flood warnings were issued urging immediate action in some areas of Cumbria.

Heavy rainfall, which fell for more than 12 hours yesterday in the Ulverston and Dragley Beck catchments, has meant that Town Beck and Dragley Beck levels are rising rapidly.

The main areas of concern were properties and low lying areas around the Buckston Place Car Park and Morecambe Road confluence between Town Beck and Dragley Beck.
