THE Archbishop of York has been asked to consider calling a meeting of council leaders to "try to make some progress" towards a devolution deal and an elected mayor for Yorkshire.
During a House of Commons debate this week, Labour MP John Grogan said he had written to Dr John Sentamu and that progress was "sorely" needed by the people of Yorkshire.
This summer, Craven District Council "agreed in principle to explore proposals for a single combined authority". Cllr Richard Foster, council leader, said the devil would be "in the detail" to ensure the council got "the best deal for Craven".
