A GIGGLESWICK girl conquered one of the the Yorkshire's Three Peaks to complete her first fundraising challenge.

Keen walker Georgia Bousfield, aged four, battled poor weather conditions on Saturday to reach the summit of Ingleborough and in the process managed to raise nearly £1,000 for BBC's Children in Need.

Georgia's mother Jenny Bousfield said: "Georgia walked 8.4 miles, starting in Clapham, up to the summit on Ingleborough (2,372 feet high) and over the top and back down into Ingleton.

"The weather conditions were very poor with lots of rain, extreme wind and very bad fog making the visibility very difficult," she said. "Georgia didn't complain once and was an absolute star.

"It was such an achievement for a girl who is only four years and one month old.

"We would like to thank everyone who has donated, supported and encouraged Georgia throughout this amazing experience. We are very proud of her."

Georgia, who attends ChipMonks Day Nursery in Giggleswick and the Early Years section at Giggleswick Junior School, wanted to do the challenge after getting the idea from watching Countryfile.

"They were doing a 'ramble' for Children in Need - and Georgia said that she would like to do something too," said Mrs Bousfield. "I suggested that we could do a walk and Georgia said she would like to climb Ingleborough."

Already a seasoned walker, Ingleborough is the second of Yorkshire's Three Peaks Georgia has now completed.

"Georgia climbed Pen-y-ghent one week shy of her third birthday," said Mrs Bousfield. "She was amazing, in fact kept shouting at me to keep up."

"She is enthusiastic about everything she does and keeps me motivated too," she added. "Georgia loves being outside and exploring the great outdoors."
