A SOUTH Lakes butcher is offering one lucky customer the chance to win their height in Cumberland sausage.

Higginsons, the well-known Butchers & Pie makers in Grange, is inviting customers to guess the correct answer to their sausage-themed quiz question to win the prize as part of UK Sausage Week (October 30-November 5).

Every year, Sausage Week takes place around Bonfire Night to promote the reputation of the British product as a quality, increasingly premium product with an economical price tag.

Higginsons will also be getting creative with the season’s finest produce to create three special 'Bonfire Banger' including:

l Sticky Toffee Apple Sausages (made with Cartmel Sticky Toffee Sauce)

l Spiced Pumpkin Sausages

l The Vampire Slayer Sausages (hot & spicy for cold nights)

Entry forms for the competition can be found in their shop on Main Street and will be available between Saturday (October 28) to and Friday (November 3).

The winner will be drawn from all correct entries on Saturday (November 4).

And Dales Traditional Butchers, in Kirkby Lonsdale, will be donating 50p from every KG of sausages it sells during the week to the Girl Guides.

Throughout the week, the butchers will also be offering samples of its award-winning sausages from across the years. It will also be giving away two sausage hampers to two lucky customers who ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ the company’s Facebook page.

Dales Traditional Butchers was originally opened in the year 1906 by Herbert Dale. Now owned and run by Mark Duckworth, the business is a key part of the local community and enjoys using events such as UK Sausage Week to ‘give something back’.

A variety of Dales sausages which have won previous awards will be available to sample for free at the shop during UK Sausage Week. These include: Pork Duck Orange and Cointreau, Beef Sausage, Lamb and Apricot, Pork and Caramel, Pork and Haggis, Pork Sausage, Beef and Marmite, Pork and Caramel, Pork Honey and Mustard and Pork Sausage.
