A 15-year-old cyclist suffered serious injuries when he took off from a large jump and crashed into a tree mid-flight.
The male biker was flown to hospital by the North West Air Ambulance after the crash near Broughton on Wednesday afternoon.
Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue team helped to treat and extract him from steep woods using ropes.
"The good news is that although he sustained serious injures, the casualty was smiling and requesting photos as he was loaded into the helicopter," said a team spokesperson.
"The casualty's friends did an excellent job looking after him after the accident, calling out the emergency services, making sure gates were open and directing the team and other services to the site."
