DREAMCATCHER: Alex Hossack and Catherine Aubrey interpret your dreams

Andy’s Dream:

I was walking the streets of London carrying a piece of paper that had the words ‘Woman Street’ written on it. I wandered around for some time looking for this street without any success.

I came to a bridge and crossed over. I found myself standing at the top of a flight of stone steps with many people busy going up and down. A Mexican-looking man came alongside me standing with a similar looking man. I decided to ask him if he knew where ‘Women Street’ was. He said “yes, follow me” and set off down the stairs with me in tow. The other man and now a woman, possibly two, joined us.

We walked alongside the River Thames until we came to an office on the left and he said that this was it.

The women, I think one of them was my partner, went in first and I watched her shake hands with a large man behind a desk. I went in and he offered me his hand saying who he was and added that he was from Liverpool. I said who I was and added that I was from the North East. He nodded. The dream faded out amicably.

Dream Interpretation:

Initially there is a strong element of searching in this dream which is an indication that the dreamer has been looking for an answer to something. The fact that he is searching for something in particular, means that he is aware of his unfulfilled needs and has identified a commitment to actually resolving them.

Dreams that involve a capital city indicate that he is considering how he intends to interact with large groups of people, probably women, to bring about change.

The act of walking down steps in a dream often signifies going into the past or the subconscious and suggests there are steps to be taken to achieve that goal and find something that has been lost. This may be the meaning to his life.

The first part of the dream suggests a transitional ‘journey’, which concludes with the dreamer finding what he is looking for. This may indictate that he has gained awareness about some aspect of himself.

The mind can use ‘searching’ and ‘finding’ metaphors to indicate the effort required of the dreamer in his waking state. To find something without too much effort suggests events that need to unfold to reveal the way forward.

This dream is about searching for meaning to his future life. He starts off feeling aimless but finds direction through the help and support of others. This is similar to last week’s dream offered by the same dreamer.

If the dreamer would like to provide feedback about the interpretation, please send it to ACDreamcatchers@mail.com.

Interestingly, we have found it is not always possible to interpret your own dream, probably because it often represents the sublimation of feelings or thoughts that we are trying to avoid in our waking lives. However, with a little assistance from the dream interpreter, the symbols and themes can start to make sense and help us to move forward.

If you are interested in having a particular dream analysed, please send us an account of your dream to the following email address: ACDreamcatchers@mail.com We only have space to interpret one dream a week which will be selected from those received. Please refer to the guidance provided to describe your dream as this will enable us to provide a full interpretation.

Guidance for the Dreamer:

• Record your dream in writing as soon as you wake up with as much detail as possible.

• First of all ask yourself who is in the dream.

• Where are you, what is happening to you and what is happening around you?

• Record how you are feeling about what you and/or others are doing.

• Are there particular symbols or objects in the dream that are unusual?

• Are there any sounds and is the dream in colour or black and white?

• Are you watching yourself in the dream or are you experiencing it first-hand ie: through your own eyes.
