THE wintry streets of Kendal will light up for the festive season on Sunday, November 19 when Father Christmas arrives in town for the big switch-on.
There will be festive cheer and music in Abbot Hall from 2pm as the reindeer arrive and Santa prepares to lead the parade from Abbot Hall from 3pm.
The traditional reindeer-pulled sleigh will leave Abbot Hall at 4.10pm - arriving in the town centre in time for the switch-on ceremony at 4.45pm with the main stage, just next to the Elephant Yard Shopping Centre.
There will be a selection of festive talent performing on the main stage and the Elephant Yard Shopping Centre will be offering some festive treats.
Children can take their letters to the Christmas postbox in the yard to send to Father Christmas and enter a Christmas competition.
A local hero will be nominated by the community to turn the lights on and their name will be announced online closer to the time.
Thousands turned out to last year's switch-on, enjoying live music, mince pies, mulled wine and festive treats.
