Ambleside Civic Trust is also keen to see changes in Stock Ghyll Park, which is surrounded by 12 acres of semi-natural woodland through which the spectacular waterfalls of Stock Ghyll Force run, reports Jane Renouf.

It has been identified as one of the top visitor attractions in the Lakes, as well as being a major public amenity for Ambleside.

However, it needs extensive maintenance after years of neglect and much of its 700m of pathways are worn down.

The trust is launching a Stock Ghyll Report and Project at Friday's annual meeting, to find ways of improving and restoring the park.
