PLANS to enlarge the mower shed at Kendal Subscription Bowling Club met with approval from South Lakeland District Council.
The club has its bowling green at Serpentine Road, and the larger outbuilding will enable the mower to be stored indoors.
According to planning documents, the first definite date of the club's known existence is 1870, when an annual meeting was held at the Kent Tavern. In 1875 a Mrs Birkett was paid two shillings and sixpence for keeping the green key.
