ARNSIDE National School’s new after school club – known locally as Arnie’s – are getting in the swing to fundraise for Children in Need with a special ‘rap’ they have written themselves.

They will be performing their rap for local businesses and shop owners on today however their talents are not stopping at ‘rapping’ because they are also baking biscuits as part of their fundraising efforts.

Club leader Samantha Reynolds said she was very proud of the efforts of the children, who range in age from three to 11 years.

Samantha, who is assisted in running the club by Julia Holroyd, provides children with a range of activities including sports, crafts, singing, dance, artwork and computer skills.

Their “rapping” skills will also be put to good use when they perform their Christmas Show at the end of term.

Headteacher Nick Sharp explained that Arnie’s is part of the wrap-around care provided by the school.

“The after school club runs during term time from 3pm to 6pm, five days a week - the children absolutely love it," he said. "Sam and Julia provide a fun, exciting and very caring end to the busy school day."
