A SPECIAL week of events to celebrate friendships between different faiths took place in Kendal during Interfaith Week 2017.
Kendal was the smallest town of many nationwide to hold an event every day, said Jacquetta Gomes, secretary of the Buddhist Group of Kendal (Theravada), which held an open meeting at the town's Fellside Centre;.
At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints there was a discussion about the Spiritual Links booklet, produced to promote mental health awareness among different faith groups.
At Kendal Town Hall, mayor Cllr Andy Blackman attended readings and reflections in listening, an event by South Lakeland Interfaith Forum event.
South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership hosted talks on interfaith by Rabbi Robert Ash and
Harsha Shukla, who has an MBE for services to interfaith relations.
Back at the Fellside Centre there were readings from the Dalai Lama's book Towards a True Kinship of Faiths: How the World’s Religions Can Come Together.
Retired Catholic priest Monsignor Francis Slattery hosted an Interfaith Week celebration at Milnthorpe presbytery, and the week closed with a special service at Kendal Unitarian Chapel.
