LOCAL radio stations The Bay and Lakeland Radio are to be bought by the owner of Classic FM.
British radio company Global - which also owns household names Heart, Smooth and Capital - has struck a deal to buy the stations from CN Group. The Carlisle-based multimedia group is the publisher of Cumbria Life magazine and newspapers including Barrow's The Mail, The Whitehaven News, and The Cumberland News.
In a statement, CN chief executive Miller Hogg said the sale would allow the company to "support its core publishing business". He added: "We have enjoyed working with The Bay and Lakeland teams and would like to wish them all the best for the future."
CN Group has owned Kendal-based Lakeland Radio since 2005 and Lancaster's The Bay since 1999.
