AN 85-YEAR-OLD woman was flown to hospital after her car came off a Lake District road and went into a stream on Friday (December 8).
Emergency services were called to the A592, near Glenridding, at around 4.50pm.
The woman, driving a red Hyundai iX20, left the road, dropped down an embankment and into a stream.
Police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue and mountain rescue team members attended the scene and rescued the woman from her car.
She was flown by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries and was described as being in a critical condition.
