THE 163-year-old confectionary business Grasmere Gingerbread is setting up a pop-up shop in Kendal for one day on Friday (December 15).
The stall - inside Made in Cumbria's Branthwaite Brow shop - is a legacy of the flooding that devastated Cumbria two years ago.
“We started pop-up shops away from our Grasmere home after Storm Desmond closed the A591 for six months and some of our customers couldn’t reach our shop,” said Grasmere Gingerbread's co-owner Joanne Hunter.
“They were so popular with other local businesses and especially supportive customers in Kendal we decided to come to them this Christmas.”
It is Grasmere Gingerbread’s first outing in Kendal Since the demise of the town’s food festival and medieval market.
“These were lovely events to attend and we always had great feedback from people in the town,” said Joanne.
“Made in Cumbria already stock our own homemade rum butter but on Friday we will be selling freshly-baked Grasmere Gingerbread for one day only.”
Joanne thanked Made in Cumbria shop manager Debbie Sharp for the invitation.
