FRANK Capra's Christmas classic 1946 film It's A Wonderful Life receives festive screenings at both the Roxy cinema, Ulverston, and the Royalty at Bowness on Christmas Eve (Sunday, December 24, Roxy 11am, Royalty, 5pm). Starring James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore, the much-loved movie tells the tale of a small-town philanthropist whose loan company has gone bust and who is saved from suicide by an elderly angel (Henry Travers).
Charles Morris, who owns both cinemas, says its the perfect film for Christmas: "People are always asking for it and if there's anyone out there who hasn't seen it before, now's your chance. I hope people will find one or other of these screenings convenient; I'll be going to both of them, both to see the film and to hand out the mince pies. I will also be presenting a short compilation of vintage film clips to show beforehand and we will have mulled wine at the Royalty”.
