A DECISION by the Government to launch a consultation on an opt-out organ donation system has been welcomed by Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron.

Mr Farron, who has been campaigning for the opt-out system to be introduced since 2013, described the Department for Health announcement this week as great news for the 6,000 people who are currently on the organ donor waiting list. According to the NHS, 457 people died in England last year while waiting for an organ transplant.
