ANYONE wanting to enjoy a festive spectacle of motoring legends old and new can motor on down to one of Cumbria’s top visitor attractions this Christmas.

Now in its fourth year, Lakeland Motor Museum’s Boxing Day ‘Drive and Ride In Day’ is open to owners of vintage and classic motor cars, motorcycles, trucks and vans spanning the full breadth of the 20th century.

A selection of modern classics and high-performance cars from the last two decades are also likely to gather at the Museum during the day.

Taking place on Tuesday, December 26 (10am-4pm), the event is expected to be popular not just with vintage and classic car owners, but also with a younger generation of drivers who may never have seen some of the unique and iconic styles on show.

Edwin Maher, director at the Lakeland Motor Museum, said: “Our Boxing Day Drive and Ride In Day is fast becoming an annual tradition, offering something different for people to do with family and friends over the Christmas period.

"We’ve had a surge in interest in these popular gatherings over the past few years, and with each event attracting a range of different vehicles, there are always some unusual and memorable sights to see.”

The Boxing Day Drive and Ride In Day is a chance for participating drivers and their passengers to take a look at the Museum’s ever-changing exhibits at a reduced admission price. Meanwhile, holders of a free Local Residents’ Pass can get 50 per cent off entry to the Lakeland Motor Museum on the day.

With recent arrivals including a collection of rare AJW motorbikes and a 1960s ‘high fashion’ Singer Vogue Mark III, there is plenty for returning visitors to enjoy.

There is also free parking for all visitors, with no need to book. www.lakelandmotormuseum.co.uk / @LakeMotorMuseum
