SILVERDALE Parish Council is to press for an answer about why the village does not have a speed indicator device.
At their recent meeting, councillors agreed to seek a response from Lancashire's police and crime commissioner, Clive Grunshaw, to their earlier question.
Parish council chairman Cllr John Bennett said he had seen a speed device for £3,250 plus VAT which could collect data and display a 'slow down' message. Councillors decided to apply for a grant towards the cost of such a device for the village.
Police have been observing motorists using marked and unmarked cars in Silverdale at peak times. PC Andrew Massingham reported that some drivers were travelling too fast for the conditions, rather than speeding, councillors heard.
The parish council is also to ask highways officers about the possibility of double yellow lines at "strategic points" to stop parking, and allow room for cars to pull in when there is oncoming traffic on narrow stretches.
