LONG wolfless centuries lie between us and the beauty of how Westmorland must have been. Legend has it that the last wolf in England was killed in the 14th Century on Cumbria's sea cliffs at Humphrey Head. Since then many of England's wonders have been hunted to extinction. Today the hills themselves are nearly dead; grazed to the bone by sheep bred for the pot, and occupied almost exclusively by grouse bred for the gun. The upland ecology is so badly degraded that rain gushes straight off the hillsides flooding towns and villages below.

GreenSpirit holds a vision that combines the rigour of science, the creativity of art, and a passion for social and ecological justice. We honour the wisdom of the Earth's indigenous peoples and share a conviction with all world religions that love, peace and compassion is the highest calling. We seek to embody this in the way we relate to all living beings.

We may never see the blessing of wolves anywhere in England but we can re-wild our hearts, rejoice in the wonders that remain, and remember our unity with the Earth. No matter who we are, where we come from or what we believe, the same power brought us into being; planet Earth is our only home in a vast universe; we are inseparable from the web of life upon which we depend absolutely.

For the good of all beings may 2018 be a turning point in our troubled history as a human family.
