AN ambulance made a 'pointless journey' to an address in Ulverston after a woman falsely called the emergency services, a court heard.

Katie Gardener, 28, of Bakery Court, Lower Buck Street, pleaded guilty at Furness Magistrates' Court to sending a message which she knew to be false for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another. The court heard that she committed the offence while serving two suspended sentences.

Peter Batty, prosecuting, said that an ambulance had earlier attended Gardener's house to recover an unconscious man. After that, Gardner contacted them again, with no legitimate reason to do so, causing the ambulance to make a pointless journey.

Gardner will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on January 19.
