AMBLESIDE Masons cooked and served Christmas dinner for almost 40 guests at the town's Masonic Lodge.
The guests included lodge widows, members of the Evergreen Club and residents of Rowan Court, Drummermire and West Ing.
Donning his everyday whites was the Worshipful Master of Ambleside Lodge, local chef Nick Foster. Waiting on the tables was Bill Bewley, Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Cumberland and Westmorland, and the lodge’s charity steward, Malcolm Parsons.
The Christmas lunch and party marked the end of a busy year for the 118-year-old Lodge, which has 58 members. In October, Masons from around the country, including representatives from Ambleside, celebrated the 300th anniversary of the foundation of the premier Grand Lodge of England in the Royal Albert Hall. It featured a theatrical extravaganza showcasing the history and heritage of Freemasonry featuring Sir Derek Jacobi, with music performed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
