A TREK to Everest base camp beckons for a young Levens woman "passionate" about helping others.

Nineteen-year-old Caroline Marsh is hoping her Nepalese adventure next September will raise £2,200 for Action Against Hunger. The charity works to save the lives of malnourished children and adults in nearly 50 countries.

Caroline is studying French, history and politics at the University of Nottingham and is a former pupil of Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale.

She would love to welcome people to her coffee morning fundraiser at Levens Institute this Saturday (January 6). She has also entered June's Great North Swim and is also planning a band night when she returns to Nottingham.

"I have been actively involved in charity work for a long time and am passionate about helping in as many ways as possible," the teen told the Gazette.

"In 2014 I 'lived below the line' raising money for Send a Cow and have volunteered at Oxfam in Kendal for just over a year - and therefore am excited to embrace this experience."

As well as the physical challenge of trekking to 5,380m (17,600ft), Caroline said there is also the challenge of raising more money than she has ever done before. If you would like to help by donating, please visit www.everydayhero.com, click 'Find a Friend' and search for 'Caroline Marsh'.
