A NUMBER of road closures remain in place across Cumbria as a result of Storm Eleanor.

Throughout the night areas across the county saw heavy rain and high winds.

There are six tidal flood alerts in place today along the Cumbrian coastline and a tidal flood warning for the coastline between Gretna and Silloth.  

One property in Rockcliffe was flooded and two properties in the village of Braystones were evacuated as a precaution.

There has been no reported injuries as a result of last night’s weather.

The road closures that are in place are at:

·         Allerdale: B5300, Dubmill Point

·         Allerdale: U7166, Oulton nr Village Hall  

·         Allerdale: C2052, Skinburness Road, Silloth

·         Allerdale: B5307, Angerton House (West of Kirkbride)

·         Carlisle: Rockcliffe road, Rockcliffe, near River Esk at Boat House  

·         Copeland: C4029, Main Street to Foxcroft B&B, Haverigg  

·         South Lakeland: A592 Rayrigg Road, Windermere

Superintendent Mark Pannone, Cumbria Constabulary, said:

“I’m pleased to say that the weather conditions are easing and that there have been no reported injuries as a result of Storm Eleanor.

“Agencies across the county have worked throughout the night in order to limit the effect of the adverse conditions.

“There are a number of tidal flood alerts in place for the county’s coastline and I would advise that members of the public do not visit or walk along the coastline at times of high tide today for their own safety.”
