THE brother of a missing man thought to be in the Lake District has thanked those helping in the search.

Colin Bamber, from Liverpool, was last seen at his home address at 6.30am on Wednesday morning (January 3).

The 50-year-old is described as white, 5ft 7 inches tall, of slim build with a bald head.

Writing on Facebook yesterday (January 10), Jimmy Bamber said that the response from people who had shared the posts and turned up to help with the search was 'incredible'.

"Some of these people are complete strangers and I know myself and my family are very grateful," he wrote.

He appealed to his Facebook friends to share the post to help find his brother.

Mr Bamber is believed to have travelled to South Cumbria in a black Renault Megane, which was found in the Ambleside area on Wednesday (January 3).

Police are appealing for anyone with information on his whereabouts to get in touch by calling 101.

Police also ask Mr Bamber, if he sees this appeal, to get in touch to let them know he is safe and well.
