FROM world maps to stark concrete buildings and leafy palms, the team at Murals Wallpaper have unveiled their seven top trends for 2018.

The Liverpool-based company specialises in full-wall murals and bespoke papers. One of its most surprising interiors predictions is the theme of brutalist architecture. Following the controversial demolition of London's Robin Hood Gardens blocks of flats last month, the designers at Murals Wallpaper say fascination with the raw-concrete style has "returned to the spotlight".

Pantone has announced ultra violet as the colour of 2018, and the Space collection features purple-hued galaxies and starry skies.

The botanical look was one of 2017's most copied, and this lush green trend looks set to endure into the new year. For an unusual yet equally impressive impact, try applying a palm mural to the ceiling.

The Terrazzo theme is inspired by the speckled appearance of Italian palazzo flooring and has been enjoying popularity across the interior design world. Its glamour has entered the most de luxe of homes, and can now be achieved via wallpaper as well as the more traditional planters and vases.

In a similar vein, marble murals offer a contemporary take on a traditional material, that was also one of 2017's biggest success stories for interiors.

Wall art such as Japanese artist Hokusai's The Great Wave can make a bold statement, while an extensive collection of map murals allows the whole family to indulge in wanderlust for 2018. The children's maps are "especially engaging for little explorers", adds the design team.
