OUTLINE plans for a new house on a field north of Burneside met with refusal from South Lakeland District Council.
Applicants Mr and Mrs Bland were seeking consent for an open-market dwelling at Houseman Tenement Farm, so their daughter and her family could stay living locally. Burneside Parish Council was in favour, but several residents wrote to oppose the plan. Two neighbours wrote in favour.
Planning committee members decided the house's isolated location in open countryside would be 'detrimental' to the landscape.
