CUSTOMERS struggling to pay their water bills could benefit from a new package of support launched by United Utilities.
The Payment Plus scheme is designed to free people from debt in two years. For every £1 they pay off, UU will pay £1. After six months the company will up its contribution to £2 for every £1 paid. After two years any remaining debt will be written off.
The utility company is also responding to the roll-out of Universal Credit by offering to suspend or delay payments by up to eight weeks, giving customers time to manage their budgets during the benefits transition period.
