TRIBUTES have been paid to the woman who died after a collision on the A590 at Backbarrow.

Doreen Fell, aged 76, died following an incident on Wednesday (January 17) evening. 

Mrs Fell, from Backbarrow, was a pedestrian when she was struck by a Black Honda Civic travelling eastbound on the A590.

Despite the efforts of passing motorists, off duty police officers and North West Ambulance service, who all gave first aid, Mrs Fell was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The family of Mrs Fell said: “It is with great sadness that Doreen has so tragically been taken from us, an active member of the Backbarrow community for over 40 years, she will be sorely missed by all. 

The driver of the Honda Civic, a 58-year-old man from the Carnforth area, was uninjured.

Police would like to speak to anybody who witnessed the collision and are asked to contact PC2456 Ross White or Sgt1929 Martin Bainbridge of the Mobile Support Group on 101.
