HELM Hill's Imogen Burrow was the first lady to finish in the Kendal Winter League meet at Giggleswick on Sunday.

Burrow finished the race in 28:49 to beat Lonsdale's Ellie Maddocks in second and Helm Hill teammate Bianca Dyer in third.

Other Helm Hill runners Emma Johnston, Ali Richards, Kate Simpson, Jayne Rigby and Rowan Ranner made the top 10, while Settle's Carol Evans, finished sixth and first LV50.

The overall winner was Leeds City's Alasdair McLeod who finished in 22:43. Second went Wharfedale's James Hall, while Helm Hill duo Michael Ainsworth and Ben Procter finished third and fourth respectively.

Ambleside's Jon Rylance rounded out the top five to finish as first MV40.

In the under 17 race, first girl went to Ambleside's Chloe Rylance, as she finished comfortably ahead of Helm Hill's Maia Doherty. Third place went to Iris Palmer of Halifax Harriers. For the boys, Kendal AAC's Toby Umpleby finished fourth with teammate Jacob Smith in sixth. Separating the pair of them was Ambleside's Daniel Sanderson.

Leven Valley's Olesia Winder won the U15 girls race, ahead of Ambleside's Sophie Rylance and Helm Hill's Elodie Malcolm.

Ollie Sanders, of Helm Hill, finished second in the boys race behind Wharfedale's Sam Smith. Ambleside's James Bowen was fourth.

It was a one-two for Helm Hill's girls in the U11 race, as Sarah Smith led home Elise Tallon. Eden's Esme Walkingshaw took third.

First boy was Eden's Harry Ewbank, who finished ahead of Will McNally of Leven Valley in second and Ambleside's Rowan Ashworth in third.
