RAIL passengers have given Virgin Trains some of the highest scores for satisfaction and performance among long-distance operators.

In the latest National Rail Passenger Survey, the company scored an overall 91 per cent on its West Coast route, which links Oxenholme to London and Scotland.

Ninety five per cent of customers were satisfied with train times and platforms; 92 per cent with journey times; 89 per cent with train upkeep; and 88 per cent with service frequency.

The typical Oxenholme-Euston journey time is two hours 38 minutes, says Virgin Trains.
