A PROJECT to build a new pedestrian footbridge in Cartmel has received £60,000 from South Lakeland District Council as part of its Township Initiative.
It is hoped a new bridge will make it easier for people to walk from the Priory to the Square along the other side of the river. Plans for the footbridge have been agreed by the Environment Agency.
“A new footbridge would make the environment much better for people walking around the village," said Cllr Mary Wilson.
“I’m also delighted we finally got agreement from the Environment Agency for the bridge following the intervention of our MP Tim Farron.
“I’ll continue working with the council to make sure that we get a bridge soon!”
