A VILLAGE football club is planning to extend its men's toilets, to improve its promotion chances.

Milnthorpe Corinthians FC is seeking planning consent for a toilet block extension beside its changing rooms at The Strands, Park Road, Milnthorpe.

The team is currently in third place in the West Lancashire Football League's Division One, and is nine points off the top with two games in hand.

In a letter, club chairman Ian Hunt said the Football Association had requested the new loos be built before April 2018, and they would be required for the team to move up a division.

The ground is at "high risk" of flooding and did so in December 2015's Storm Desmond, according to a report submitted to South Lakeland District Council. Experts have recommended flood-resilient materials and design, such as impermeable concrete
