I EDIT the Cartmel Courier, a monthly newspaper of a retirement community in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, USA.
Our parent company is of a Quaker foundation and was named Kendal because George Fox preached in the Moot Hall there.
Our community, Cartmel, follows the same tradition; in addition, its four roads are also named after places in the Lake District area - Ingleton Circle, Lonsdale Lane, Windermere Way and Ulverston Drive. Our sister community is called Coniston.
My question contains the correct spelling for a person who comes from Cartmel. Some contributors to our newspaper spell it Cartmelian, whereas others spell it Cartmellian.
Which is correct, or is it some other spelling we are unaware of?
