Eve Muirhead pulled the trigger on her ‘pistol shot’ to eliminate hot favourites Canada and guarantee Great Britain's women a match for a curling medal in Pyeongchang this morning.

Muirhead played a raised double take-out in the penultimate end - effectively a plant which took out two of her opponents' stones - to swing the match in her favour and ultimately seal a 6-5 win.

Great Britain's win seals a semi-final slot in the competition.

However, Britain's men face a play-off against Switzerland after slipping to a 10-4 defeat against the USA.

Kyle Smith's men knew a win would be enough to send them straight through to the last four but they were beaten after just eight ends.

The result left Great Britain in a three-way tie for third place, with the Americans sent through on account of their better head-to-head record between the three teams.

So far Great Britain has won four medals at the Winter Olympics. Lizzy Yarnold retained her skeleton title and Laura Deas won bronze in the same event. Izzy Atkin won bronze at women's slopestyle and Dom Parsons won bronze in the men's skeleton.
