PLANS which could see a village's housing stock increase by 42 per cent are being recommended for approval.

Members of South Lakeland District Council's planning committee will meet today (Thursday) to discuss an application for 106 homes to the north of Sycamore Close, Endmoor.

Last year Preston Richard parish councillor Glenn Smithers told the Gazette "measured and limited expansion" of Endmoor was needed.

He said there was "no local need or support" for the new homes, and the village lacked "key services" such as a post office, bank and GP surgery.

He described the dwellings as "crammed in" and added they would "amount to a 42 per cent increase in the number of houses and population within the village and a 30 per cent increase in the village footprint".

But SLDC officers have recommended members grant permission to the plan by Carlisle-based Story Homes. In a report they said they were 'satisfied with the scale' of the development.

A list on 24 conditions are recommended, including restrictions on when work can take place: not between 6pm-8am Monday to Friday and 1pm-8am Saturday with no work allowed on Sunday or Bank Holidays.
