CUMBRIA Police received 135 knives from members of the public during a week-long surrender period.
The surrender, which ran between February 12-18, was part of a national initiative to tackle knife crime.
The police appealed to the public to hand in any unwanted knives to ensure they did not fall into the hands of criminals.
The knives will now be destroyed and cannot be used by offenders looking to inflict fear or harm.
Ten knives were handed in in south Cumbria, 62 in north Cumbria and 63 in west Cumbria.
